Thousands of Manchester United supporters protested against the club’s ownership before the derby with Manchester City as anger grew over a ticket-touting investigation. United recently said 685 fan accounts had been banned, with another 464 sanctioned or formally warned.

Supporters gathered outside Old Trafford before marching towards the stadium, while The Red Army withheld its usual banners and displayed one attacking the club’s treatment of fans. Protest songs targeted both Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Glazers during the match.

Houston Dash have fired head coach Fabrice Gautrat and technical director Twila Kilgore with the club sitting 12th in the 16-team NWSL. Houston are 11 points outside the playoff places after Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Utah Royals.

Jaime Frias will serve as interim head coach for the rest of the season. Gautrat arrived before the 2025 campaign, while Kilgore joined the technical-director role in February after previously working with the USWNT, including a spell as interim national coach.

Pro Ref admitted an error of judgement in awarding Erling Haaland’s winning goal as Manchester City beat Manchester United 1-0. The body said VAR failed to recognise the likely impact of offside-positioned Enzo Fernandez and should have recommended an on-field review.

Haaland was initially flagged offside before VAR ruled Patrick Dorgu had played him onside. Fernandez had attempted to head the cross while offside near Lisandro Martinez. Pro Ref contacted United after the match and said the incident will now be reviewed.

LaLiga and CANAL+ have launched a strategic anti-piracy partnership covering roughly 50 countries across Europe, sub-Saharan Africa and Haiti. The agreement expands their relationship beyond football distribution, combining enforcement capabilities to target illegal sports broadcasts across multiple regions.

The organisations will share information, coordinate enforcement strategies and accelerate action against illegal distribution networks. LaLiga president Javier Tebas said the alliance is designed to protect competition value and broadcaster investment, while CANAL+ described piracy as a threat to the entire sports ecosystem.

Valencia have sacked head coach Carlos Corberan and parted company with football CEO Ron Gourlay after a disastrous start left the club 20th in La Liga. Friday’s defeat at Sevilla was Valencia’s fourth consecutive league loss, with only one point collected.

Corberan had rescued Valencia from the relegation places after arriving in December 2024 and later guided them to ninth last season. His successor will become the club’s 18th permanent head coach since 2012 as Valencia seek another reset at Mestalla.

Preston North End have sacked Paul Heckingbottom with the club second bottom of the Championship after six defeats in seven matches. The decision followed Saturday’s 1-0 home loss to Lincoln City and a run of only five league wins during 2026.

Assistant Stuart McCall has also left Deepdale, while coach Jason Euell has been placed in interim charge. Preston said results had been unacceptable despite significant investment, with Heckingbottom departing after 109 matches and before Saturday’s trip to Queens Park Rangers.

Al-Taawoun have sacked head coach Zarko Lazetic following a 6-0 Saudi Pro League defeat by Al-Hilal. The club had failed to win any of its opening seven league matches, collecting only three points from four defeats and three draws.

The heavy loss proved the final blow after one of Al-Taawoun’s worst starts to a Roshn League campaign. Lazetic admitted Al-Hilal were vastly superior, and the club will now begin searching for a replacement to reverse its early-season slide.

Dutch amateur club GVVV have removed head coach Dennis van Beukering and assistant Jhon van Beukering after a violent half-time incident against IJsselmeervogels. Jhon is accused of striking player Quiermo Dumay in the face, leaving him bloodied and missing teeth.

GVVV launched an internal investigation immediately after the match and said neither coach would continue working for the club. The board is cooperating with police and the KNVB, while Jhon said the opposing side also bore responsibility and planned to file a report.

Lazio’s 2-2 draw with AC Milan was played in a sparsely populated Stadio Olimpico as supporters continued an organised boycott against president Claudio Lotito. Coach Gennaro Gattuso said the atmosphere felt like the COVID period, with capacity around 20 to 30 percent.

Supporters greeted the team bus at Formello but stayed away from the stadium, leaving travelling Milan fans unusually prominent. Lazio surrendered a 2-0 lead after half-time, and Gattuso said playing without the backing of a full home crowd was not football to him.
