Preston North End have sacked Paul Heckingbottom with the club second bottom of the Championship after six defeats in seven matches. The decision followed Saturday’s 1-0 home loss to Lincoln City and a run of only five league wins during 2026.
Assistant Stuart McCall has also left Deepdale, while coach Jason Euell has been placed in interim charge. Preston said results had been unacceptable despite significant investment, with Heckingbottom departing after 109 matches and before Saturday’s trip to Queens Park Rangers.
