Former Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand is leading a consortium proposing an £87 million minority investment in AFC Wimbledon. The agreement would provide funding over five years while preserving the League One club’s supporter-controlled ownership structure.

Investment vehicle Sloane Street Capital, funded by technology entrepreneur Omar Mir, would initially invest £16 million for a 34% stake in AFCW PLC. Another £71 million would follow over five seasons. Bertrand would become senior football adviser, while the Dons Trust would retain its majority voting rights and protection over the club’s identity and stadium. Members have until 17 November to vote on the proposal, which has not yet been approved.
