Lens defeated Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 to win the Trophee des Champions despite playing with ten men from the 39th minute. Florian Thauvin scored the decisive first-half goal before Lens survived sustained pressure from the European champions.
Kyllian Antonio’s red card forced Lens to defend almost the entire second half with a numerical disadvantage, but PSG could not equalise. The upset gives Lens the first domestic trophy of the French season only days after PSG won the UEFA Super Cup.
