Celtic, Hibernian, Martin O’Neill and Alistair Johnston
25 October 2026
Celtic defeated Hibernian 2-1 to restore their four-point lead in the Scottish Premiership, but defender Alistair Johnston suffered another possible hamstring setback. The Canada international lasted only 21 minutes after coming on as a substitute.
Camilo Durán scored Celtic’s winner after a Jason Kerr own goal had brought Hibernian level. Johnston, who missed much of last season with hamstring problems, required another substitution after reporting discomfort. Manager Martin O’Neill said medical scans would determine whether the injury had recurred. Cameron Carter-Vickers returned from injury and completed the closing stages without an apparent setback.
Why It Matters
Celtic have extended their league lead but could again lose Johnston during a busy fixture period.
