Croix Bethune, Kansas City Current and Washington Spirit
25 October 2026
Kansas City Current midfielder Croix Bethune set a new NWSL single-season record with her 11th assist during a 2-1 victory against former club Washington Spirit. The American midfielder surpassed the previous record of ten assists, which she had shared with Tobin Heath.
Bethune assisted Vanessa DiBernardo’s opening goal in the 17th minute. Her record-breaking performance came in her first start since early September following a hip injury. Kansas City moved into fourth place, two points behind Washington, with one regular-season match remaining. Finishing in the top four would give Kansas City home advantage in the playoff quarterfinals.
Why It Matters
Bethune's record helps Kansas City's push for home advantage in the playoffs.
