Burnley, Nicky Hayen and Alan Pace
24 October 2026
Burnley have dismissed manager Nicky Hayen after only 14 matches in charge following a 4-1 Championship defeat against Lincoln City. The result left Burnley 22nd in the standings and deepened concerns about another difficult season.
Hayen arrived in July after previously winning the Belgian league with Club Brugge. Burnley have won only one of their opening 12 Championship matches and conceded 25 goals, the division’s worst defensive record at this stage. The club announced his departure within two hours of Saturday’s defeat and must now appoint another manager to rescue its promotion ambitions.
Why It Matters
Burnley face another managerial rebuild while struggling near the Championship relegation zone.
