Crystal Palace and Takehiro Tomiyasu

Crystal Palace have held talks with free-agent defender Takehiro Tomiyasu and reached a broad agreement on contract terms. The former Arsenal player is training with Palace, but the club still wants assurances over his recent knee problems.
Head coach Pierre Sage will decide whether to proceed after assessing Tomiyasu’s fitness and suitability for a three-centre-back system. Palace need defensive reinforcements with Maxence Lacroix expected to join Chelsea and other centre-back negotiations continuing.
