Mauricio Pochettino says Tottenham should be awarded the 2016-17 Premier League title after Chelsea admitted historical rule breaches. His Spurs side finished seven points behind Antonio Conte’s champions, while Chelsea were fined £10.75 million over undisclosed payments.
Chelsea’s current owners self-reported the issues after their 2022 takeover, with the league identifying payments to players, unregistered agents and other parties. The Premier League concluded a points deduction was inappropriate, but Pochettino argues Tottenham did not compete under equal conditions.
