Real Madrid defender Éder Militão has completed his first full match after approximately six months recovering from a serious hamstring tendon injury. The Brazilian played 90 minutes in Madrid’s 3-2 Champions League victory over AEK Athens.

Militão suffered a proximal biceps femoris tendon tear against Alavés in April and subsequently underwent surgery in Finland. He had made only a brief substitute appearance before returning to the starting eleven in Athens. After completing the match, he credited Mourinho’s careful management and the rehabilitation process for helping him return to competitive football.

Why It Matters

Madrid regain an experienced central defender as Militão completes a significant recovery from another lengthy injury absence.
