Liverpool reached the Carabao Cup quarter-finals after defeating Chelsea 6-5 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at Anfield. Wesley Fofana missed the decisive penalty for the visitors.
Morgan Rogers gave Chelsea the lead from the penalty spot in the 40th minute after Ryan Gravenberch fouled Moisés Caicedo. Cody Gakpo equalised three minutes later with another penalty following a Fofana handball. Neither team scored in the second half, and Liverpool advanced through a tense shootout despite missed attempts from both sides.
