Barcelona, Hansi Flick, Jules Koundé and Eric García
24 October 2026
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has confirmed that Jules Koundé and Eric García will miss Sunday’s La Liga showdown against Real Madrid. Their absences add to Barcelona’s defensive concerns following the club’s 4-2 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Flick confirmed the two defenders would be unavailable during his pre-match press conference. The German coach said Barcelona had worked on defending set pieces after identifying them as an important strength of Real Madrid. With both players ruled out, Flick must adjust his defensive selection for a match that could affect Barcelona’s six-point advantage over their rivals.
Why It Matters
Barcelona's defensive absences could leave them more vulnerable to Madrid's attack.
