Stephen Welsh is poised to become Swansea City’s first summer signing as Vitor Matos looks to strengthen his defence. The Celtic centre-back spent last season on loan at Motherwell and has made 70 appearances for his parent club.
Swansea need more depth behind Ben Cabango and Cameron Burgess after last season’s defensive options thinned out. Welsh brings Championship-ready experience from loan spells and gives Matos an early piece for his back-line rebuild.
