Ian Cathro has been appointed Saint-Etienne head coach after two seasons with Estoril in Portugal. The former Hearts boss signed until 2028 and has been tasked with taking the 10-time French champions back to Ligue 1.
Saint-Etienne turned to Cathro after Philippe Montanier’s deal expired following play-off final defeat. Club president Ivan Gazidis praised his coaching path, player development work and ability to build a clear team identity.
