Aston Villa, Wolves and Joao Gomes

Aston Villa are close to signing Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes in a deal worth up to £38m. The Brazil international has left Wolves’ Portugal training camp and is expected to have a medical with Villa on Thursday.
Villa need midfield reinforcements after selling Youri Tielemans to Manchester United and losing Amadou Onana to a serious knee injury. The Gomes deal is worth £34m up front plus £4m in add-ons.
