Al-Qadsiah, Al-Wasl, Julian Quinones and Mateo Retegui

Al-Qadsiah beat Al-Wasl 2-1 in their first-ever AFC Champions League Elite appearance, opening their league-phase campaign with three points. Julian Quinones scored the Saudi club’s first goal in the competition before Mateo Retegui quickly doubled the lead.
Quinones headed in Christopher Bonsu Baah’s cross in the 57th minute and Retegui scored four minutes later from Mohammed Abu Al-Shamat’s pass. Leandro Spadacio pulled one back deep into stoppage time, but Al-Qadsiah held on for the historic victory.
