Barcelona, Hansi Flick, Hamza Abdelkarim and Deportivo Alavés
31 October 2026
Barcelona have included Egyptian youngster Hamza Abdelkarim in their squad to face Deportivo Alavés, with five first-team players unavailable through injury. The absentees include Dani Olmo, Jules Koundé, Eric García, Andreas Christensen and Xavi Espart.
Flick has turned to younger squad members to cover the injury shortage, naming Abdelkarim alongside established attackers Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. Defensive options are particularly limited following recent setbacks. Abdelkarim’s inclusion provides additional attacking depth, although a first-team appearance is not guaranteed.
Why It Matters
Barcelona's injury problems are forcing Flick to rely on younger players during the title race.
