Patrick Vieira and Senegal
Tuesday
Senegal have appointed former Arsenal and France captain Patrick Vieira as their new men’s national team head coach. The Dakar-born 50-year-old replaces Pape Thiaw, who was dismissed following Senegal’s round-of-32 elimination at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Vieira returns to international football representing the country of his birth after coaching New York City, Nice, Crystal Palace, Strasbourg and Genoa. His first matches are expected next month in qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
