Dani Carvajal, Getafe and Real Madrid

Former Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal has signed for Getafe on a free transfer after leaving the Bernabéu in June. The 34-year-old right-back ends a 23-year association with Real Madrid, where he won 27 major trophies, including six Champions League titles.

Carvajal signed a contract running until June 2027 with the Madrid-based La Liga club. His final seasons at Real Madrid were disrupted by significant knee injuries and reduced opportunities following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s arrival. David Alaba has passed his medical with Udinese in Rome and is now travelling to Udine to complete the final details of a free transfer. The 34-year-old defender has been without a club since leaving Real Madrid in June.

The medical produced no reported issues, clearing Alaba to formalise the move after previously reaching a verbal agreement with Udinese. He is expected to sign a short-term contract before joining his new team-mates and beginning his first Serie A spell.

Christian Eriksen has left Wolfsburg by mutual consent before his contract was due to expire in June 2027. The 34-year-old, who has not played since June, said being close to his family in Denmark is important at this stage.

Wolfsburg agreed to terminate Eriksen’s contract at his request, with sporting director Dieter Hecking saying the decision about his future had to remain his. Eriksen joined the German second-tier club as a free agent a year ago and made 34 appearances.
