The referee initially cautioned Twente’s Zerrouki after a challenge, but video review instead led to Thun’s Patrik Kristal being sent off. Zerrouki scored in the 65th minute after a move involving Sondre Ørjasæter and Daouda Weidmann.

Nineteen-year-old Alphadjo Cissé became the youngest Italian to score a hat-trick in a major European club competition as AC Milan defeated RB Salzburg 4-0. The midfielder broke a record that had stood since 1959.

Cissé scored twice before half-time and completed his treble shortly after the interval, with Gonçalo Ramos adding a fourth. The previous Italian record belonged to Milan’s Giancarlo Danova. Milan collected their first Europa League points despite a late dismissal.

Benfica beat Celtic 4-1 in Lisbon in the Europa League, inflicting a fourth defeat in five matches on the Scottish club. Jhon Durán scored twice in the opening half as the Portuguese hosts took firm control.
