Manchester United, Michael Carrick, Eddie Howe, Julian Nagelsmann, Kieran McKenna and Antonio Conte
26 October 2026
Manchester United have begun assessing potential replacements for Michael Carrick following eight matches without a win. ESPN reports that Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann are among the candidates, with Kieran McKenna and Antonio Conte also under consideration.
United’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth left them 16th in the Premier League, one point above the relegation places. Club officials are reportedly reviewing managerial alternatives and believe their earlier recruitment assessments leave them prepared for a possible change. Carrick remains in charge, and no dismissal or formal appointment has been announced.
Why It Matters
United could make another managerial change as they approach the relegation zone.
