Leon Goretzka and Aston Villa

Aston Villa have signed former Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka on a free transfer. The 31-year-old Germany international joins after eight seasons at Bayern, where he made 312 appearances, won seven Bundesliga titles and lifted the Champions League in 2020.
Villa moved to add midfield experience with Amadou Onana sidelined until next year and several senior players having left this summer. Goretzka had become a free agent after his Bayern contract expired and previously held talks with AC Milan.
