Newcastle United have completed the signing of Monaco midfielder Aladji Bamba for a fee that could rise to £34m. The 20-year-old Frenchman has signed a five-year contract after passing his medical on Tyneside.
The deal confirms Newcastle’s shift towards younger continental targets after earlier midfield exits and missed targets. Eddie Howe called Bamba an exciting signing with growth potential, though the player has only 12 senior starts.
