Newcastle United, Monaco and Aladji Bamba
Thursday
Newcastle United have agreed a deal worth up to £34m for Monaco midfielder Aladji Bamba. The 20-year-old Frenchman is due on Tyneside for a medical before signing a long-term contract with Eddie Howe’s side this week.
Newcastle needed midfield reinforcements after selling Sandro Tonali to Tottenham and missing out on Johan Manzambi. Bamba ranked highly among Ligue 1 midfielders for duels, tackles, take-ons and aerial wins last season, making him a data-friendly target.
