MetLife Stadium signage is being changed to put New Jersey before New York, highlighting tension over World Cup hosting recognition, transport costs and local ticket access. The venue will host eight matches, including the final.

Governor Mikie Sherrill pushed for New Jersey’s role to be reflected more clearly after FIFA requested operational changes. The dispute also widened around NJ Transit costs and discounted tickets being offered only to New York City residents.
