Manchester United failed in their attempt to overturn Lisandro Martinez’s red card for pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair. The dismissal stands and Martinez must serve the full three-match suspension. ESPN’s refereeing review said the VAR intervention was always likely once the hair-pull was spotted, and later reporting confirmed United’s appeal was unsuccessful. Carrick has said he strongly disagrees with the call, but accepted that the club now has to move on
