Liverpool came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 at Anfield in Andoni Iraola’s first Champions League match as a head coach. Marcos Llorente opened the scoring before Dominik Szoboszlai equalised and Alexis Mac Allister struck the winning goal.
Ronald Araujo created Szoboszlai’s equaliser with a backheel before Mac Allister scored from 22 yards with his left foot. Liverpool recovered after Atletico surprised them with a 5-3-2 shape, giving Iraola a winning start to his Champions League campaign.
