The freshman star will miss the rest of the season after breaking his right thumb in a non-contact drill, requiring surgery, after recently returning from a left-hand fracture. He was ramping up activity after the earlier injury but got hurt while dunking in practice. UNC had gone 5-1 without him and were nearing March’s key stretch, including a rematch with Duke and the ACC Tournament.

Cooper Flagg returns Thursday vs Magic after eight-game absence with midfoot sprain
