Newcastle United have signed Scotland defender Rachel McLauchlan from Brighton for an undisclosed fee. The 29-year-old joins the WSL 2 club after two seasons with Brighton, where she made 51 appearances and reached the FA Cup final.

McLauchlan brings 35 Scotland caps and title-winning experience from Rangers, Glasgow City and Hibernian. Newcastle manager Tanya Oxtoby said her experience and versatility should help the club’s promotion push next season.

Leandro Trossard has joined Besiktas from Arsenal on a three-year contract worth €18m, with a further one-year option included. The Belgium forward leaves after scoring 36 goals and providing 34 assists across 174 appearances for the Gunners.
