Newcastle United have signed Scotland defender Rachel McLauchlan from Brighton for an undisclosed fee. The 29-year-old joins the WSL 2 club after two seasons with Brighton, where she made 51 appearances and reached the FA Cup final.

McLauchlan brings 35 Scotland caps and title-winning experience from Rangers, Glasgow City and Hibernian. Newcastle manager Tanya Oxtoby said her experience and versatility should help the club’s promotion push next season.
