Newcastle United have officially signed Bosnia-Herzegovina defender Amar Dedic from Benfica for around £30m. The 24-year-old has agreed a five-year contract and reunites with manager Matthias Jaissle, who previously coached him during their successful spell together at Red Bull Salzburg.

Dedic arrives after Kieran Trippier’s departure and could immediately start because Tino Livramento is still returning from a calf injury. His ability to play on either flank gives Newcastle additional defensive flexibility as the club continues rebuilding a notably young squad.

Brighton have rejected a £7.5m offer from Rangers for winger Amario Cozier-Duberry. The 21-year-old impressed on loan at Bolton last season with eight goals and 12 assists, while Championship clubs are also considering temporary moves for him.

The rejected proposal would have been Rangers’ second-largest transfer fee in more than two decades, showing the scale of their attempt to strengthen wide areas. Brighton have less than two years remaining on Cozier-Duberry’s contract but are not accepting the current valuation.

Joao Cancelo has reportedly agreed to terminate his Al-Hilal contract as he works toward a permanent Barcelona return. The Portugal full-back arrived in Barcelona and said he had pushed strongly for the move after negotiations dragged on.
