UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Crvena Zvezda after supporters displayed banners glorifying convicted war criminal Ratko Mladic during their Europa League match against Viktoria Plzen. The Serbian club also posted images of the banners on its official social channels.

UEFA listed three alleged offences, including racist or discriminatory behaviour, transmitting a message unfit for a sporting event and improper team conduct. The Srebrenica Memorial Center also contacted UEFA, arguing the club’s own publication made the issue institutional rather than purely supporter behaviour.

Rangers and Celtic supporters

Rangers will provide Celtic with only 300 tickets for their Scottish League Cup quarter-final at Ibrox on 13 September. The sharply reduced allocation follows the March Old Firm disorder and comes after both clubs received Scottish Cup stadium closures.

Rangers said the lower allocation would improve ticket-holder accountability, segregation and entry controls after reviewing the Blackbourne Report and recent incidents. Around 8,000 Celtic supporters attended the March Scottish Cup meeting, making the new allocation a major reduction.

Arturo Ruiz and Brighton Women

Brighton have appointed Arturo Ruiz as their new women’s head coach following Dario Vidosic’s sudden departure. The 29-year-old Spaniard signed a contract until 2029 and will take charge once his work permit is finalised ahead of the WSL season.

Ruiz arrives from Real Sociedad after previous managerial spells with Atletico Madrid and Granada. Brighton moved quickly because Vidosic left only a week before their league opener against Arsenal, creating an immediate need for leadership before the new campaign begins.
