Gianni Infantino, Caribbean Football Union, FIFA and Kohzo Tashima
6 November 2026
The Caribbean Football Union has publicly endorsed Gianni Infantino for another term as FIFA president ahead of the March 2027 election. The endorsement follows earlier support from the Asian Football Confederation.
The Caribbean organisation represents 31 member nations, including 25 with FIFA voting rights. Its announcement followed Infantino’s visits to the region and highlighted FIFA’s development funding while calling for stronger governance. FIFA has proposed increasing contributions to member associations, and Infantino recently announced investment in football facilities in Aruba. FIFA council member Kohzo Tashima has declared his intention to challenge Infantino, with nominations closing on 18 November.
Why It Matters
The endorsement strengthens Infantino's re-election prospects despite continuing criticism of FIFA's governance.
