Hibernian, Hearts, Martin Boyle, Jamie McGrath and Marink Reedijk
1 November 2026
Hibernian defeated Edinburgh rivals Hearts 2-1 at Hampden Park to reach the Scottish League Cup final against Rangers. The victory ended a difficult run of derby defeats and gave manager Marink Reedijk a landmark result.
Claudio Braga headed Hearts ahead after four minutes, but Hibernian responded through goals from Martin Boyle and Jamie McGrath before half-time. Hearts pressed after the interval and Braga missed a late opportunity to equalise. Hibernian held on despite their poor league form, securing a place in December’s final.
