Coventry were thrashed 5-0 at home by Brighton, leaving them with four defeats and no goals from their first four Premier League matches. They became only the fifth team in English top-flight history to start a season with four scoreless losses.
Coventry trailed by one at half-time before Brighton doubled the lead and Taiwo Awoniyi was sent off shortly afterwards. Frank Lampard’s side have now lost their last 46 Premier League matches after conceding first, a sequence stretching back to 1999.
