Leeds United are close to signing Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford for an initial £40m after positive club-to-club negotiations. The 23-year-old England international reportedly prefers the move despite interest from Newcastle, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Trafford wants regular first-team football after making only four Premier League appearances behind Gianluigi Donnarumma last season. Leeds need a new goalkeeper following Karl Darlow’s move to Manchester United and Illan Meslier’s transfer to Arsenal.
