Toluca won the CONCACAF Champions Cup for the first time since 2003 after beating UANL Tigres 6-5 on penalties. Goalkeeper Luis Garcia saved two spot-kicks to deliver the club’s third continental crown.
Jorge Diaz Price put Toluca ahead in extra time before Joaquim Pereira forced penalties with a late header. Garcia then denied Fernando Gorriaran and Jose Juan Purata, sending Toluca into the FIFA Intercontinental Cup and 2029 FIFA Club World Cup.
