20 October 2026
Former Netherlands international goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has reportedly agreed to join Go Ahead Eagles on a free transfer after leaving NEC Nijmegen during the summer. The 37-year-old returns to Eredivisie football to strengthen the club’s goalkeeping options following an injury setback.
Dutch outlet Voetbal International reports that Go Ahead Eagles moved for Cillessen after goalkeeper Nick Marsman suffered an injury. Cillessen, who had been training independently while searching for a club, is expected to compete with Kjetil Haug for the starting position. His previous clubs include Ajax, Barcelona, Valencia, Las Palmas and NEC. The supplied report does not provide details of his contract length.
