While averaging a career high 24.6 points and leading Miami in three pointers, Norman Powell is running his Understand the Grind Foundation, organising turkey drives and a Christmas gift event for families in need in San Diego, inspired by his mother’s long standing community work. Powell’s “Understand the Grind” mantra grew from childhood conversations into a clothing line, then a foundation that now offers mentorship, education support, youth camps and a scholars program with job shadowing and college help, aiming to show young people that hard work and sacrifice can open paths beyond their neighbourhood.
