After winning the NBA draft lottery with just a 1.8% chance, the Dallas Mavericks plan to select Duke forward Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 pick and will not trade the pick for any established superstar.
Despite fan backlash from the earlier Luka Dončić trade, Mavs governor Patrick Dumont sees Flagg as a “gift” and wants to secure the franchise’s future around the 6’9″ Duke star. Flagg dominated college basketball this season, averaging 19.2 points and leading Duke to the Final Four.
