Lamine Camara, Chelsea and Monaco
1 September 2026
Chelsea’s £47.1 million move for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara collapsed after the 22-year-old had completed a medical. Monaco withdrew from the written agreement shortly after the transfer deadline, leaving Camara in France and Chelsea without Enzo Fernandez’s planned replacement.
Monaco changed course after renegotiating Folarin Balogun’s proposed move to Everton and decided they would not allow both players to leave. Chelsea could still have cancelled Fernandez’s Manchester City transfer but chose to honour that separate £125 million agreement.
