Brighton are preparing to activate Michael Svoboda’s €6m release clause after the Austrian centre-back captained Venezia to Serie A promotion. The 27-year-old is set to move to the Premier League despite interest from Bundesliga clubs.
Svoboda’s exit leaves Venezia needing a defensive replacement as they prepare for top-flight football next season. Brighton see the deal as a low-cost squad-building move after qualifying for the Conference League and adding more European commitments.
