Saudi Arabia opened their Gulf Cup 27 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Kuwait in Jeddah. The decisive goal arrived in the 73rd minute when Kuwait defender Yousef Al-Haqqan turned Humam Al-Hammami’s delivery into his own net.
Saudi Arabia had an earlier goal disallowed after Mohammed Kanno caught Muadh Al-Dhafiri before the finish. The hosts continued pressing after half-time and took all three points, moving top of Group A after Iraq and Oman drew 1-1.
