Oman reached the Gulf Cup 27 semi-finals at Iraq’s expense after organisers used a random draw to separate the two completely tied teams. Oman’s name was selected after both sides finished level across every applicable group-stage criterion.
Oman and Iraq both ended with four points, four goals scored, five conceded and eight yellow cards after drawing their meeting 1-1. Saudi Arabia topped the group with nine points, leaving the draw to determine the second semifinalist.
