Italy, Turkey and Francesco Pio Esposito
5 October 2026
Italy beat Turkey 3-1 in Bologna to move into second place in their Nations League group. Gianluca Scamacca, Riccardo Calafiori and Francesco Pio Esposito scored after Aral Simsir briefly brought Turkey level.
Esposito’s late goal was his seventh for Italy before turning 22, making him only the second Italian to reach that figure so young after Giuseppe Meazza in 1931. Italy moved onto seven points, three behind leaders France.
