Manchester United admitted its ticket-touting investigation caused distress and treated some genuine supporters unfairly. The club underestimated how commonly fans shared account details and has removed restrictions where satisfactory explanations were provided in many reviewed cases.

United reviewed accounts accessed from shared devices, including one device connected to 1,088 accounts. Season tickets will now be confiscated only where evidence indicates organised touting, systematic misuse or activity undertaken for financial gain.
