Manchester City defeated Ipswich Town 3-2 to maintain their perfect Premier League start, winning all seven opening matches for the first time in the competition. Erling Haaland scored twice as City moved six points clear at the top, while manager Enzo Maresca became the first Premier League coach to win his first seven matches.
Phil Foden opened the scoring on his return from suspension, with Haaland adding two goals. City supporters booed the Premier League anthem and displayed inflatable bananas in protest following the club’s financial-rule verdict. The victory marked City’s strongest league start in 129 years. Haaland later limped off following a challenge, although Maresca said the striker reported feeling fine.
