Chelsea opened Xabi Alonso’s Premier League tenure with a 3-2 win at Fulham. Joao Pedro scored after 31 seconds, Morgan Rogers struck on his debut and Cole Palmer added the third before Gonzalo Garcia pulled one back for Fulham.
Fulham equalised through Josh King and later threatened a comeback after Garcia’s goal, but Chelsea held on. Palmer drove the visitors creatively, while goalkeeper Robert Sanchez endured a difficult game and was involved in both Fulham goals.
