Moreira arrives after developing into a senior Belgium international and one of Strasbourg’s leading young players. The size of the reported fee makes the deal a major Milan investment, while Strasbourg also retain a percentage of any future resale.

Manchester United are closing in on a deal for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba after submitting an offer worth around £60m plus £5m in add-ons. Talks remain active, and the Cameroon international is understood to want the move to Old Trafford.

Brighton have not yet accepted United’s proposal, but their valuation has fallen significantly from the figure above £100m quoted last summer. United view the 22-year-old as the box-to-box midfielder still missing despite adding Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

Aston Villa, Zion Suzuki and Matteo Ruggeri

Aston Villa have confirmed the signings of Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma for around £30m and Italian left-back Matteo Ruggeri from Atletico Madrid for £17m. Both arrive before Villa begin another Premier League and Champions League campaign.

Villa view Suzuki as their long-term first-choice goalkeeper even after Emiliano Martinez’s proposed Juventus move collapsed. Ruggeri replaces Lucas Digne following his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, giving Unai Emery two new defensive starters ahead of Sunday’s opener at Brighton.

Paul Pogba and Monaco

Paul Pogba has left Monaco after the club and midfielder mutually terminated his contract one year early. Monaco said the objectives set when the former France international joined in 2025 were only partially achieved after he made six appearances last season.

The termination makes the 33-year-old a free agent before the new Ligue 1 campaign. Pogba described representing Monaco as an incredible experience, while the club thanked him for his commitment after a comeback that never developed into a regular first-team role.

Crystal Palace have officially signed United States prospect Zavier Gozo from Real Salt Lake for a reported $15m. The 19-year-old forward has agreed a five-year contract after producing six goals and four assists in his first 16 MLS league matches this year.

Gozo becomes Palace’s sixth summer signing and joins after establishing himself as one of MLS’s leading young prospects. The Utah-born attacker has represented the United States through under-23 level and also earned selection for this season’s MLS All-Star Game.

Philadelphia Union, Toulouse and Mark McKenzie

Philadelphia Union have reportedly reached an agreement to bring United States defender Mark McKenzie back from Toulouse for around $2.5m. The 27-year-old is expected to join in January 2027 on a Designated Player contract ahead of MLS’s calendar transition.

McKenzie came through Philadelphia’s academy before moving to Genk and later Toulouse, and has earned 30 senior United States caps. His return adds an experienced international centre-back to the Union while Toulouse retain him through the remainder of the current season.
