Tim Ream was named USMNT captain for the World Cup by Mauricio Pochettino. The 38-year-old defender is set to become the oldest player to represent the United States at a men’s World Cup.
Pochettino said Ream’s leadership off the pitch was as important as his role on it. Tyler Adams and Christian Pulisic remain senior voices, but Ream will wear the armband as the United States opens against Paraguay.

Chelsea won the Women’s World Sevens title in London after beating Manchester United 6-5 in the final. The seven-a-side event mixed WSL players, flair-heavy rules and a $500,000 prize for the winners.
The tournament used rolling substitutes, no offsides and shorter matches to encourage attacking football and showpiece celebrations. Chelsea’s win came at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium, one day before the Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley.
Milan Vitalis, Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Gyori ETO

Celtic are reportedly leading the race to sign Gyori ETO midfielder Milan Vitalis, with Rangers and Aberdeen also interested. The 24-year-old has drawn attention after helping Gyori win the NB1 title.

Barbra Banda suffered an injury scare late in Orlando Pride’s 3-1 win over Bay FC after scoring twice and adding an assist. The forward had stretched her NWSL Golden Boot lead before pulling up near the sideline.
Orlando had used all substitutions and finished the match with 10 players after Banda left the field visibly upset. Head coach Seb Hines said the club did not yet know the full nature of the injury.

Brenden Aaronson missed USMNT World Cup training because he was allowed to attend his own wedding. The Leeds United midfielder is expected to rejoin the squad on Saturday before their next preparation match.
Team-mates said the absence was planned well in advance and not viewed as a distraction. Aaronson is coming off a strong club season and has been named to Mauricio Pochettino’s World Cup squad.

Bayern Munich are reportedly exploring a move for Inter Milan defender Yann Aurel Bisseck after cooling talk around John Stones. The 24-year-old is said to interest Bayern as a centre-back who can also cover right-back.
Inter are reportedly open to talks from around €40 million, while Bisseck is said to be interested in Munich. Bayern may step up only if Min-Jae Kim leaves, with defensive depth now under review.

Raheem Sterling was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after his Lamborghini crashed into motorway barriers on the M3. Hampshire Police said no other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.
The crash happened near the Minley Interchange on Thursday morning before Sterling was released on bail. Police are continuing enquiries, while the incident leaves the Feyenoord attacker facing a serious off-field investigation.

Arijon Ibrahimovic could stay in Bayern Munich’s first-team squad, leave on loan or be sold after his Heidenheim spell ended. Augsburg, Werder Bremen, Hoffenheim and Stuttgart are reportedly among the Bundesliga clubs interested.
Premier League clubs Brighton, Crystal Palace and Fulham are also monitoring him, along with PSV Eindhoven. Bayern must now decide whether his development is better served in Munich or through another move.

Food and beverage workers at SoFi Stadium are set to vote on possible strike action before the World Cup opener between the United States and Paraguay. The dispute threatens eight matches scheduled at the Los Angeles venue.
The union says talks with Legends Global have stalled over pay, subcontracting, automation, accreditation and ICE-related concerns. FIFA said the labour dispute is between Legends and the union, while workers warned the tournament could face serious disruption.
