De Graafschap, Vitesse, Dutch football authorities and the KNVB
8 November 2026
De Graafschap’s Dutch second-division match against Vitesse was called off after supporters blocked their own team’s bus from travelling to Arnhem. The incident followed a decision to prohibit visiting fans from attending.
Arnhem authorities banned away supporters because of concerns about public disorder. In response, De Graafschap fans prevented the team bus from leaving, and the match was officially called off at 12:15 local time. KNVB regulations permit disciplinary sanctions for culpable non-attendance, potentially including fines, forfeiture or points deductions. Officials will review the circumstances before deciding on consequences and rescheduling.
Why It Matters
A supporter protest prevents a professional fixture from taking place and could expose De Graafschap to disciplinary sanctions.
